Get on the Bus
I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live.
Somewhere in an American community today a special school bus is rolling up to a high school to teach students the power of their decisions. It’s called the “Choice Bus,” and the interior is specially outfitted. Half of it looks like a classroom; the other half a jail cell, complete with iron bars, grim bunks, and a bare toilet. Organizers explain to students the dangers of dropping out of school and how our decisions determine our destiny.
The Bible is the world’s greatest authority on that message. “Choose life,” says Deuteronomy 30:19. “Choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve,” warns Joshua 24:15. Proverbs 12:26 says, “The righteous should choose his friends carefully.” When Jesus saw Martha frantically trying to manage her affairs while Mary sat at His feet listening to His words, He said, “One thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part” (Luke 10:42).
In matters large and small, you need to consider the consequences of your decisions, pray over your choices, and make the best possible determinations for your life.
